Initial response to Chief Executives published02 Nov 2011
On 20th August Norman Baker MP and Andrew Smith OBE wrote to all Chief Executives in England with highway responsibilities to raise awareness of HMEP at a senior level and canvass their views on how the programme should develop.
We have now summarised the responses and sent out initial findings back to those who replied. The findings have been separated into various themes, such as communications, what was wanted from HMEP, barriers to efficiency and local authority efficiency experiences.
We are now taking a more detailed look at the issues raised and how we can respond. Some of this can be done fairly quickly in a “they said – we did” format, but other responses will require further analysis. So in keeping with the sector led approach of HMEP, we have asked John Onslow, Service Director of Infrastructure Management and Operations at Cambridgeshire County Council, to lead on that analysis. All of our responses will be made available on this web site.Read the response letter, with a summary of issues raised
